Job Purpose
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Nursing and Midwifery Workforce, Education and Modernisation, the Business Manager will be responsible for providing Nursing and Midwifery Workforce and Education with a comprehensive planning, performance management and business support service, which is closely aligned with the Trust’s corporate planning and performance management priorities and processes.
The post holder will be responsible for all aspects of the planning, performance management and business support functions, including the administration function. This will include providing a diverse range of support functions across all Nursing Workforce and Education services.
He/she will support the Assistant Director, Nursing and Midwifery Workforce, Education and Modernisation in co-ordinating the development, implementation and maintenance of all business planning processes and arrangements within the department and will manage and assist in the production of all plans and business cases required to deliver on strategic and other service developments.
The post holder will support the Nursing Workforce and Education Head of Service and others in the on-going review and development of the Nursing Workforce performance management and governance frameworks, including the associated monitoring and reporting requirements.
He/she will be responsible for the collection and analysis of data and the provision of timely, relevant and accurate information and reports (covering a diverse range of topic areas) and will also participate in associated audit and benchmarking activities
Main Responsibilities

Accountable to the Assistant Director, Nursing and Midwifery Workforce, Education and Modernisation, for the effective and efficient operation and delivery of all aspects of the planning, performance and business support functions within Nursing Workforce and Education Services.

Support the Assistant Director, Nursing and Midwifery Workforce, Education and Modernisation, and other managers, in reviewing service provision, collating priorities and monitoring and reporting on progress against action plans.

Undertake process mapping of existing services and develop appropriate action plans for improvement, as required.

Provide project management and/or administrative support to the Assistant Director, Nursing and Midwifery Workforce, Education and Modernisation, and others, in developing new ways of working and alternative models of service delivery.

Provide support for, and where appropriate, lead on the implementation of service change improvements to improve patient/client care, and other initiatives and projects within Nursing Workforce and Education Services to include working closely with the Assistant Director, managers, partner organisations and other key stakeholders.

Support the Assistant Director, Nursing and Midwifery Workforce, Education and Modernisation, and others, in collaboration with staff from the information and records department, in collecting, monitoring, analysing and reporting access and other performance management targets.

Support the Assistant Director, Nursing and Midwifery Workforce, Education and Modernisation , and others, in developing, implementing and maintaining effective information and communication systems and processes within the Nursing Workforce and Education Services to support the enhancement and effective delivery of all services, including design and update of sharepoint sites.

Establish relationships and networks within the Nursing Workforce and Education Services, partner organisations and key stakeholders, to promote collaborative working.

Maintain and monitor training activity, including a number which relate to mandatory training programmes. Provide Assistant Director with regular training updates on a quarterly, or more frequent, basis.

Provide administrative support to the Assistant Director, Nursing and Midwifery Workforce, Education and Modernisation and others, in collating responses to press/media enquiries and assembly questions.

Maintain good staff relationships and morale among the staff reporting to him/her.

Reviews individually at least annually, the performance of immediately subordinate staff, provides guidance on personal development requirements, advises, initiates where appropriate further training.
