The Organisation:
Stewarts Care is a long-established voluntary organisation providing comprehensive community-based services to people with intellectual disabilities.
We support people across a wide range of services within residential settings, day services, supported independent living, job advocacy and vocational training.
The Role:
The role of the Transport Operative is to assist the manager in the daily operations of the department and ensuring that all vehicles are compliant to the Road Safety Authority (RSA) and the Road Traffic Act 2016.
The Transport Operative will deliver workshops to staff to promote Transport operations and procedures.
Candidates must meet the following criteria relevant to the role:
- Full clean Category B driving licence (minimum), with willingness to drive a range of vehicles.
- Demonstrated knowledge of road safety legislation, including RSA requirements and the Road Traffic Act 2016.
- Experience in a transport, logistics, or fleet support role, ideally within a busy operational environment.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, including record-keeping, scheduling, and reporting.
- Ability to coordinate vehicle maintenance and servicing, liaising effectively with external providers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with staff and deliver training/workshops.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and proactive approach to duties.
- Commitment to health & safety standards and maintaining compliance across a vehicle fleet.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working with a large vehicle fleet.
- Familiarity with wheelchair accessible vehicles and/or lift equipment.
- Knowledge of fleet management systems or transport-related software.
Salary and qualifications are in accordance with Department of Health consolidated pay scales.
